WRL Offers New Makerspace and Digital Memory Lab to Visitors

WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) announced that it is inviting members of the community to try out its new Makerspace and mobile Digital Memory Lab.
The new Makerspace features 3D printers, a Glowforge 3D laser printer, Cricut machines, and sewing machines. Visitors to the Makerspace can bring their own materials for custom projects that they happen to be working on, and members of WRL’s library staff will help teach users how to operate the tools and machines. (*Please note that all projects must be approved by a librarian prior to use of the machines.)
The Makerspace is open Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 pm. to 5 p.m.
The Digital Memory lab may also be used by community members who wish to digitize a variety of media formats including VHS, photos, documents, and slides.
The Digital Memory lab is by appointment only and users can schedule an appointment by visiting Book a Librarian webpage on WRL’s website. They can also schedule an appointment by calling (757)-741-3370.
Both new spaces are open to visitors ages 13 and up. The spaces will be available to any guest even if they do not have a library card.
More information on these new offerings from WRL can be found on its website.
